The project began during a lively “Conversations around Wine” gathering hosted at the Order of Engineers’ Southern Region College of Agronomy. It was there that the discussions sparked a deep inspiration within the producer and their family, motivating them to embark on a mission to revive a historic vineyard—a piece of land once explored by esteemed religious orders like the Order of the Temple. This sacred spot, with its rich legacy of winemaking dating back to Portugal’s earliest days, holds within it a slice of the country’s cultural heritage.
United by a common vision, the Jerónimo family, along with wine producer Eng. Pedro Jerónimo, set out on the ambitious “Vinha da Ordem” restoration project. Tucked away in the charming village of Valhelhas, amidst the stunning scenery of the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela, this hidden valley on the banks of the Zêzere River provided the perfect backdrop for their endeavors. Collaborating closely with esteemed scholars like Professor Virgílio Loureiro and Professor José Sobral, the team worked tirelessly to breathe new life into this historic landscape.
At the heart of their efforts lies their flagship product: Order Wine—a tribute to the ancient wines of Europe. Crafted using natural production methods and sourced from century-old vines, this unique wine captures the essence of tradition and heritage. With its rich flavor profile and distinctive character, Order Wine offers a one-of-a-kind tasting experience—an invitation to gather with loved ones and savor life’s special moments.
